Hey All-

I invite you to the next public meeting of the Action Wednesdays Agains War
at Brecht. This will be a great oppy to analyze A10 action and develop
analyses and fine-tune future actions leading to April 29 UFPJ rally and
hopefully to preventing future attacks/occupations in Iran, Syria, or
elsewhere. I think we will have a good convo about connections between war
against immigrants and war abroad, as well as how to prevent immigration
from being a wedge issue between working class citizens, african americans
and more recent immigrants. I look forward to your thoughts and
participation.

In Solidarity,
Prerana

ACTION WEDNESDAYS MEETING

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 12 @ 7:30pm

BRECHT FORUM (DIRECTIONS BELOW)

Over the last two weeks, more than a million people marched across the US
against the proposed Border Protection, Anti-terrorism and Illegal
Immigration Control Act (HR 4437). In New York City, tens of thousands took
over the Brooklyn Bridge, marching into the Federal Plaza on April 1st,
2006. It was not, however, an April Fools Day joke what one giant banner
read: “the 9/11 hijackers were here legally and they did not speak Spanish.”

The U.S. government has occupied Iraq into civil war. The country is
splitting up. After Afghanistan and Iraq, Iran is next on their list. There
is no question -- the map of the world is being redrawn with blood in front
of our eyes, here and now, through their `War on Terror`.

What do we see in the mirrors of the walls being built across the US-Mexico
border, in Palestine, in the shores of whole islands sealed for torture, in
the fingerprints we are made to submit when crossing their borders?

This is the point of no return. They provide the connections in one breath,
listen: `border protection`, `anti-terrorism,` `illegal immigration,`
`control,` ACT. How long will we resist seeing it, how long before we hear
it?

It is time. We are the fingerprinted, we are the hooded, we are the migrants
whose presence is declared unlawful. We. Act. Inside. Out.

We invite you to the Brecht Forum, on Wednesday April 12, 2006, at 7:30 pm,
for an action discussion.

Together we will:

Rearrange the targets: as migrants, as anti-war activists, as poets, as
Muslims, as aliens, as the criminalized, as the poor and the hooded.

Generate new slogans: as the criminals, as the unpatriotic, as the unrealist
realists.

Ask questions. See below for our active list.

Join us, whoever you are!

Here and now,

active questions:

-- what is the nature of this "war" (on terrorism, on afghanistan, on iraq,
on "civil liberties," on migrants, on dissidents, potentially on iran, and
on you)? some have characterized the bush administration as fascistic. in
what ways does it have precedents in history and in others, it is new? what
are the implications of our particular characterizations of the war, for HOW
and WHAT actions we organize?

-- how does "ideology" work through this war? what are the most "effective"
visions of subversive political action today? what works, and what
cannot/does not work? are there subversive traditions we should revitalize
or learn from? does the current mess we are in require the invention of new
counter-strategies? which subversive experiments have we recently
undertaken, and with what lessons?

-- and what concrete actions can we experiment with in new york city? how do
we assess these actions, how do we report their “lessons” to each other in
order to grow?

promises: there are none, except for the potential affinities and active
dreams this encuentro may activate.

requests: please come having given time and thought to these questions (and
the ones you want to place in the middle of the circle), on your way to
wednesdays-against-the-war, now a.ka. Action Wednesdays!
